Hanging basket, formally known as a cantilever casting formwork basket, is a specialized mobile construction device used in the construction of long-span box girders for bridges. It is primarily employed for cantilever casting operations on elevated bridges, continuous beam bridges, and bridges spanning rivers or seas, and allows for segment-by-segment construction along the bridge axis without the need for scaffolding.
Main Function
1. Provides a work platform at height for reinforcing steel tying, concrete pouring, and prestressing of box girders.
2. Supports the self-weight of the girder and construction loads, transferring forces to the completed girder segments.
3. Enables segment-by-segment cantilever casting without the need for full-span scaffolding, causing no disruption to traffic or navigation beneath the bridge.
